The Centre of Intelligence of Things (CIoTh) is proud to announce that its lead, Professor Celestine Iwendi, has been nominated for the Community Leadership & Empowerment Award – Strategic Excellence at the Black History Month Recognition Evening 2026 in the United Kingdom.
The award, organised by the Caribbean & African Health Network (CAHN), honours individuals whose work demonstrates outstanding leadership, empowerment and measurable community impact. The recognition of a technology and AI researcher by a leading community health network reflects a principle central to CIoTh’s mission: that advances in intelligent systems must translate into real opportunity and societal benefit.
Responding to the news, Prof. Iwendi described the nomination as both an honour and a renewed commitment to service, dedicating it to the next generation of African and Nigerian innovators and reaffirming his focus on mentorship, innovation and opportunity.
The award ceremony will be held on Saturday, 24 October 2026, at The Manchester Deansgate Hotel, Manchester.
