Professor Celestine Iwendi has been named by ScholarGPS among their Highly Ranked Scholars — placing him among the top 0.05 per cent of researchers globally across all fields with no self-citation in 2025.
Professor Iwendi, who is the Head of the University’s Centre of Intelligence of Things (CIoTH), said: Being part of such a distinguished group is not just a personal milestone, but a testament to the collaborative efforts of students, colleagues, and collaborators who have contributed to every publication, project, and discussion that shaped this journey.
“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to contribute to research at the intersection of academia and real-world impact and the support of mentors, peers, and co-authors.”
He said he would continue to:
- Champion interdisciplinary and ethical research practices
- Mentor and empower the next generation of scholars in AI, computer science, and more
- Publish work with real societal value, not just academic metrics
