The University of Bolton has formed a partnership with a Nigerian university to help integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology into its operations and academic programmes.
A landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife, Nigeria.
Under the leadership of the University of Bolton’s President and Vice Chancellor, Professor George Holmes DL, and supported by the Head of the Centre of Intelligence of Things, Dr Celestine Iwendi, the agreement represents a significant stride in academic collaboration and AI-driven research and innovation, positioning OAU at the forefront of technological advancement in Africa.
This collaboration according to the OAU Vice Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, aims to address critical challenges in Nigeria’s educational and socio-economic sectors, further enhancing both institutions’ global influence. Obafemi Awolowo University is one of three universities established in Nigeria between 1961 and 1962 and currently the second best ranking university in Nigeria.
